While the mat remains the most recognized part of the Pilates system, it is also one of the toughest to master. The apparatus and their accompanying exercises were made to facilitate the mat work. The mat and apparatus create a harmony together, they complement each other. A person wishing to reap the full benefits of Pilates should be practicing the system in its entirety, both on the mat and the apparatus, as catered for in the Studio.
